David And Goliath
By Gordon Bonney.

At last the Cup game between Saints and the Eagle took place. After the adverse weather both teams did not let their supporters down.

The Saints team looked across the picth towards their opponents who were extremly tall. Jambo and Tom Harrold on each others shoulders would make one of their players. This did not phase the Saints players as they warmed up.

The whistle went Eagle kick off Saints set their stall out very early, clean, sharp, clinical passing, communication was excellent. Both teams exchanged tackle after tackle but the break came to Saints with a precision pass from Conner Brown across the 18 yard box to pick up Mike Hallman who without hesitation put it in the back of the net Saints 1 - 0.

Eagle continued to press the Saints but Singleton & Fergus who continued to make the Eagle keeper work. Their work paid off corner to Saints. Connor Brown Sets up and delivers a delightful ball Bonney's header busts the net Saints 2 - 0.

Half Time Score Saints 2 Eagle 0

The second half was much like the first Saints pressing for more goals, Eagle breaking Saints down slowly and Connor Burns was called upon to orgainse for the corner, Eagle set up cross came Burns palms the ball away job well done, Eagle corner danger still on. Saints defend well and clear their line. Jack Shaw was an outstanding example of a player and defender. Today his composure and vision were second to none.

15 minutes to go and time for the Saints subs Semmens for Fergus, Murphy for Tom Harold. Both settled in thier roles well and a break from Saints, Singleton who continued to to wear the Eagle defence down slotted a cross across the 18 yard box Semmens in style and on full extension slots it in the back of the net Saint 3 - Eagle 0.

Final whistle went and a great performance from every Saints player today.

Final score Saints 3 Eagle 0
